My name is Hossein Fatemi and I am the founder of Middle East Images. I created this agency with the hope and dream of developing something unique - something invaluable - that serves humanity. I wanted to build a platform that solely focuses on historical, cultural and social issues of the Middle East and presents them to the world. Our agency has gathered a group of inspiring and talented Middle Eastern photographers, giving them a digital home - a powerful visionary portal to the extremes of beauty, struggle, faith, and love found in all corners of the Middle East. Importantly, Middle East Images is not just documenting the struggles of the people, but is actively seeking to help alleviate them.
One of the most devastating issues in the Middle East right now is the horrific refugee problem in Northern Syrian, Kurdistan, Iraq and the surrounding countries caused by the ravages of seemingly endless wars in the region.
For three years, Middle East Images has been holding photography workshops for refugee and underprivileged communities in the hardest hit areas. The workshops, held by the non-profit arm of our agency, teach photography, and provide something almost as important as food and shelter - hope, in a hopeless situation. They provide an emotional outlet, a skill, a means of creative expression and an education that can give them a lifelong career – the possibility of a new start.
We are raising funds to continue and extend this incredible mission. We have had eight incredible workshops for these communities in Armenia, Turkey and Georgia and now we need your help to continue this work serving those refugees in the hard hit areas of Kurdistan, Iraq, and Northern Syria. Your contributions will allow the agency outreach team, including translators, teachers and support staff to continue to provide these enriching and humanizing workshops.
In addition to the workshops, your contributions will go directly to scholarships. The scholarships provide talented and inspired students the needed funds to pursue projects documenting their communities, from the perspective of a member of those communities. The projects will capture the humanity and lives of refugees vividly, through the eyes of creative visual artists, and bring powerful images to the world - connecting, educating, and moving hearts.
Some of these student photographers will shine brightly and be invited to join our team of world-renowned photographers at the agency and work directly with Middle East Images, their lives forever enriched through the recognition, mentorship and experience that come with joining a community of well known and celebrated artists.
