Fundraiser for our dance project ENFANTS

We are Roberta Riontino and Roberta Maimone, two professional dancers and emerging choreographers based in Amsterdam.

We are raising funds for our current dance project titled ENFANTS, as we hope for the chance to feasibly enhance our performance.

We are fortunate to have already received some artistic funds from the Dutch municipality. Despite this help, we believe that with even more support we will be able to put on a greater show in order to meet the expectations of our audience as well as ourselves.

Various people are involved in ENFANTS who have made themselves fundamental to this project. Amongst them are Polly, our photographer, Clara, our sound designer, various rehearsal assistants, international choreographers who will do open workshops and many others.

The funds we hope to receive are crucial in order to properly compensate the hard work of all the artists involved in the project and to hopefully have the show run for additional dates, ultimately making this a larger experience and offer more artists the opportunity to be involved in ENFANTS. The funds will go directly to compensating artists as well as staff involved with the project, paying for equipment needed for the performance (e.g. sound systems, light equipment, video equipment, etc.), paying venue and artist application fees on top of covering costs for publicity materials (i.e. flyers and posters)

As passionate dancers living abroad, we find the vibrancy of the art culture in Amsterdam to be like none other. It is because of this cultural vibrancy that we feel projects like ENFANTS must be able to thrive. We want to add to the long line of art being created in this city while also having an opportunity to represent for the Italian community in Amsterdam.

SYNOPSIS OF ENFANTS:

ENFANTS was born, without pretensions, from the pure desire for union and fun. The idea is to bring a smile to audience members and performers alike, creating a moment of reflection on their approach to daily life, pitting the mundane adulthood against the childish pursuit of freedom and joy.

Through our choreography, we aim to shed light on the issues that become the monotony of everyday life; the uncertainty of one’s place in society and the continuous exploration and eventual metamorphosis of one’s identity. These are issues we believe are encountered by most of us at different stages of our life, which we follow in the stages of our performance. 

Our performance reminisces on the yearning to return to childhood, exploring the unhealed and undiscovered parts of ourselves, the inner child ubiquitous in all of us and realising how to move on in life with serenity, eagerness and excitement.
