Fundraiser for Nevil Joly

Donation protected
Nevil, a 23-year-old young boy who hails from Kochi, Kerala (India) came to Canada as a student in 2020, January with a lot of dreams about a beautiful life & a career. He was a student at Lambton College, Toronto studying Cyber Security & graduated in August 2021 thereafter securing a job as a Cyber Security Analyst in a private company.
As quoted by Maneesha Joly, Nevil’s sister:
He returned from his homeland in Kerala after a short vacation on June 15th with a back pain, however after three days, the pain intensified & spread to his right shoulder. At the time, he did not have a health card so we took him to a clinic in Hamilton where the doctor advised that the condition was called Scoliosis which is a recurring issue, didn’t have any permanent cure & asked him to take Ibuprofen as & when required. His relief lasted only for a short time as he started experiencing breathing issues around 24th June & was even unable to walk. By this time, he got a health card & we took him to a walk-in clinic where they advised us to take him to an ER & that his condition was critical. We then took him to the ER of Scarborough General hospital on 25th June, afternoon, where the doctor informed us that the chest Xray & ECG showed Nevil’s right lung was filled with fluid that needed draining. This draining activity was scheduled to be performed the next day, ie on 26th June, Sunday & I was asked to leave & come back then. However, I got a call from the critical unit of the hospital around 12:30 am Sunday saying Nevil’s condition is critical & that they are doing their best. So, me and my cousins went to the hospital where we were told that while performing the drainage of fluid from the lungs, there was bleeding. They couldn’t identify the reason for the bleeding therefore scheduled a CT scan where they found that the cause of bleeding was a rupture to the main artery while putting in the tube for draining the fluid. They said they did not have medical provisions to stop filling of blood in his lungs & that Nevil needs to be shifted to Toronto hospital. The doctor at the Toronto hospital advised us that the 4 litres of blood in his lungs due to the rupture needs to be removed. While the surgery was being performed for this, he had blood clots and suffered from cardiac arrest twice. Even though CPR was performed, his condition was quite unstable. After the surgery, he was put on a ventilator & the doctor said his pressure was dropping & unless it becomes stable, his hopes for recovery looked bleak. We were present in the room while he got his third cardiac arrest where he passed away & took his last breath right in front of us.
Nevil leaves behind a family that is forever missing him. The goal of this fundraiser is to cover his funeral expenses in Canada. Please consider donating and support his family & help them through this ordeal.

Thankyou for the love & support.
