Jasmine's Coach Training Fund - Support a Latina!

Donation protected
Hi! I'm Jasmine.

I've been a nonprofit professional since 2015 (and a full-fledged Master of Science in Nonprofit Management and Leadership since 2018), and I've worn plenty of hats during my time, as one does in this sector: fundraising, communications, community organizing, and just about everything else in between.

In all of my roles, my greatest strength has been listening to the needs and desires of community members and guiding them to make the best decisions for them, whether it's a donor looking to make the most impact, a volunteer seeking to use their talents for good, or a community member learning to advocate for themselves.

So, what's with the GoFundMe?

Here we go: I'm studying to become a certified coach.

As you may know, I recently announced the soft launch of my small business, Jasmine Gonzalez Consulting, and I plan to make coaching a foundation of that business. While I already have experience and talent in guiding people, it needs some added training and refinement.

It's like when your kid displays a good throwing arm. You don't just let them sit on that talent (hopefully); you send them to football camp so they can strengthen their natural skill. So today, I need your help funding my journey to football camp--uh, I mean, coaching certification.

By becoming a certified coach, I'm going to make this knowledge accessible to the communities often left out, including people of color (Black, Latinx, Native, AAPI, MENA, etc.), women, non-binary folks, LGBTQIA+ individuals, et cetera, and develop people who are more self-assured, empowered, and ready to dismantle systemic injustice and racism in their workplaces and communities.

(Peep that authority. I love a good podium.)

The coaching certification program I'm pursuing is the Gallup Global Strengths Coach certification. It focuses on highlighting and developing each person's inherent strengths so they can reach their fullest potential in a way that makes sense for them, rather than by trying to fit into a cookie-cutter mold.

The full coaching certification program usually costs $7,700, but fortunately, I was awarded $2,200 off the price, bringing my remaining total down to $5,000.

While I could technically afford the program on my own, it'd still be a significant financial setback. There are plenty of systemic barriers that keep a program like this just out of the reach of people who look like me (just Google "Latina Equal Pay Day"), which means the field of coaching often falls short in terms of representation, even though anyone from any background can benefit from coaching.

By contributing, you would relieve a huge burden off my shoulders and would allow me to turn around and share my skills with the community (yes, including you!) even sooner.

Your contribution directly funds the future of a Latinx, woman-owned small business with the mission to care for and strengthen the community.

Help me make the world a better place, one empowered person at a time.

Thank you!
