Fundraiser for Ellen Schlehuber's Memorial Service

Donation protected

For more than 10 years, Ellen Schlehuber battled cancer. She endured it all with a smile on her face. Ellen left us on February 10, 2020. She is survived by her Husband Jason, her lovable dog Koga, and her crazy cat Miaka.

Ellen was strong, hilarious, and smart. She had an incredible sense of humor, and never could pass up a good dirty joke.  Ellen's quick wit was unmatched. She had a larger than life personality, and her fun spirit could always be felt by whomever had the privilege of being in the same room. She was incredibly kind and compassionate. No matter how much pain she was in or how much she was suffering, she always had a smile and a joke to lighten the mood. She pushed those around her to be better people.

In the decade she was sick, she never once let the cancer, or any of her medical problems, slow her down. With a smile on her face, she faced each day with nothing but joy, dignity, and grace. She was truly unique. Whether it was losing her apartment and belongings to a fire, or struggling financially after becoming too sick to work, or  a 3 year battle with social security, nothing could stop her. Always true to her self, she lived her life fully and carefree.

Ellen cared deeply about the environment. Her final wishes are to be cremated and be reborn as a tree. We will be having a service with her ashes attached to the roots of a cherry tree sapling, where her ashes will nourish the tree and help it grow. She said that she wanted her tree to be planted in her husband's mother's yard so that she could always watch over her sister-in-law and her two little boys.

"I met Ellen by pure happenstance when we both started playing the same MMORPG online on the same day: City of Villains. We met within 15 minutes of my creating a character. We played for about an hour and spent the next 10 hours on the phone. For the next 2 weeks we talked all day everyday. Before I knew it, I was flying to Maine from Missouri to help her drive to Missouri to come and live with me. From the moment I got off the plane we were never apart for more then a couple of hours at a time. We would have been together 13 years on April 16th." ~ Jason

Ellen's friends and family need help covering the costs of her memorial service. Please help us honor her memory by donating. No amount is too small. We also ask, when you donate, please share your favorite story or memory of Ellen. These words will be used in her memorial service and in the monument that will be planted with her tree. If you are unable to donate, please honor Ellen's memory by sharing this fundraiser with your friends, families, and social networks.

All funds raised will go towards the costs of cremation, services, flowers, an obituary, transportation for her loved ones to and from memorial services, an urn, a tree to plant in her memory, tree supplies, a cremation casket, and fees.
