Fundraiser for Diana Castillo

Donation protected

In May Diana started feeling ill, tired and general weakness.  After having blood work done by her PCP he sent her to the emergency room for an emergency blood transfusion due to a very low hemoglobin. Her white blood cell count was high so a hematologist/oncologist saw her in the hospital and ordered a bone marrow biopsy that very  same day. After 2 bone marrow biopsies they discovered she has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B Cell type).   Doctors are very optimistic about treatment and are hoping for it to be potentially cured.
She recently started a research trial that NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell and Memorial Sloan Kettering collaborated on to treat this specific type of leukemia. Diana was recently discharged from the hospital after her very first chemo treatment that lasted 3 weeks. Now that she is out of the hospital portion of her treatment, she will be going for chemo outpatient for the most part (sometimes she will be admitted for chemo) in the next 6 to 10 months and will be too weak to go back to work during her. This fundraiser will help with her financial needs for a portion of this time as well as aid in any medical bills that her insurance does not cover.

Through all this Diana has had an amazing attitude, she remains upbeat, and positive.  Any contributions are greatly appreciated, every lit bit counts.  We also ask for prayers for a speedy recovery, strength, and courage during this time.
