I'm super excited about my mentoring and support program that empowers African American & Latino American boys that attend independent school in NYC! Given the current climate of the country, it's essential for our kiddos to have a platform. I am not one to ask for help but by not doing so, I risk setting my affinity program back. So here is my BIG ASK. I am kindly requesting monetary contributions that will impact the growth and development of The Boys' Room. They include:
Space - Since the pandemic, my office building closed. It has since reopened and it's essential to have my office space back.
Staff - I have a p/t executive assistant (previous intern) name Bella who has been with me for 2 years. Her love for the program has brought her back, after graduating from Barnard College. I'd like to offer her weekly payments so we can build this program together.
Scale - I am trying to expand this program beyond New York! In order to do this, I'd like to become a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). With this membership, I will have resources to all of the independent schools in the US that are within their network.
OK! Here is a simple breakdown of the annualized version of my budget. (NOTE:This is not my full operating budget.)
ANNUAL EXPENSES:
OFFICE SPACE RENTAL-$9,000 ($750/mth)
STAFF/ASSISTANT-$5,200 ($100/wk)
NAIS MEMBERSHIP-$1,780
MISC FEES-$5,000 (materials, professional development etc)
MY SALARY-$0
