Funding for NYCDA Screen Acting Course

Donation protected
Hello, I'm Campbell Docherty and I've been acting for 9 years, and I have been offered the opportunity to study for my degree in Screen Acting over in the US, at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, where I have earned a place and a partial scholarship, covering half the tuition expenses. this fund is to cover the remaining expenditure of the first year of tuition, along with coverage for accommodation, living expenses and travel over to the States.

Acting and performance has always been my deepest passion, and has been the perfect outlet of emotion and feeling over the past 9 years, and im hopeful I can continue on this journey and continue to grow my skill set.

In my application, i was asked to include an answer to the question "What do you think are the three most important qualities required to be successful in an acting career, and how do you embody or demonstrate those qualities?”, and I feel its suitable to leave my answer to that question down below.

"Motivation, Willingness, and Strong Mentality. The three key qualities to success in an acting career. Motivation is what keeps you moving forward, the thing that keeps you searching for that next moment of success, the drive to achieve that next goal, and hit that next milestone, and continue to strive to be what you can be and what you want to be. Willingness is that freedom to achieve everything put in front of you, that moment in your mind where you know that whatever has been put ahead of you is something that can be achieved, that moment where you know you can take that leap and commit to that jump, no matter how terrifying the fall. The strong mentality is what keeps you on your feet, the voice in your head that tells you that you can’t give up, that ability to keep getting up no matter how hard life has hit you, that knowledge of seeing that same wall ahead of you and trying to climb it again. Knowing that, when you finally climb that wall, the light you’ll see on the other side will all be worth it. When you finally reach that goal, you’ll look back at how far you’ve come and where you are right now and realize that you aren’t as weak as you once thought you were. Part of that Strong Mentality is self-appreciation and self-confidence, that belief that you can do what is ahead and knowing what’s actually achievable is huge in this field. As much as pushing the boat out is important, so is knowing your own limitations. At 9 years old I lost my dad to lung cancer, and all three of these qualities have brought me to where I am today. That motivation to keep moving forward. That willingness to take a leap into whatever life threw my way. That strong mentality that brought me back out of those problems life dropped on my back. I’ve acted for over 9 years, and performance has been with me through thick and thin, from highs to lows, through every situation in life, acting has been one of the few things I’ve been able to turn to and fully express myself, and it’s taught me these three key qualities, not only in performance but in life. Keep going, take risks, and never give in to whatever and whoever is telling you to stop."

If you could pledge any amount of money towards my studies, I would be truly greatful, and I really hope that the funds can take me to where I want to go. Thank you for your time.
