Funding For Cenizas Short Film
Hi, I'm Sera De Lobos
in 2018 I wrote a short film which I titled Cenizas, which translates to Ashes
Your Financial Contribution will be use directly for the filming of Cenizas.
The Story starts in 1980’s Guatemala City, A Mother and Daughter are at the start of their migration journey to the US. The Daughter is gifted a traditional Indigenous doll by her Grandmother, who reminds her that if she’s ever scared the doll will protect her.
Besides the harsh desert conditions, Mother and Daughter are chased down by a militant armed group that guards the border illegally. They find temporary shelter in an abandoned house. A shot is fired, and their outcome is left unknown.
The violence that takes place once Mother and Daughter reach the Arizona desert becomes the tipping point of what's to come. We experience a supernatural event, when generations of injustice manifest into a single moment of revenge, and redemption.
Since then I have been hard at work finding creatives who can bring this story to life.
I have a producer team lead by Cristina Trujillo the CEO of REEM Media LLC. She is an Ecuadorian American raised woman of color who focuses of uplifting BIPOC artist in artistic projects.
Together we have connected with artist to fill roles in our filming crew.
Awesome story board artist Turner Lange @Wallyfresch created the sequential art for our animatic.
The entire process of getting this film made has been a life changing experience, and I feel honored that through this I have met so many talented BIPOC artist who continue to push for diverse stories.
