Help Fund Future Brilliance!

Hello! My name is Chris Mayse. When I originally went to college, my plan was to be a teacher. However, after taking some introductory theatre classes, I fell into the spell of the performing arts. And, because of this, I have been extremely fortunate to have been a theatre arts professional for 25 years. Now I'm reaching out to you all for support as my professional evolution aims to officially combine my love of teaching and theatre.

I have been able to combine my passion for the arts with my desire to educate, mentor, and hopefully inspire students in my journey; which has led to my being able to work in arts education for twenty-two years. I've had the pleasure of teaching in conservatory settings, private institutions, as well as in the public sector as a program director and a guest teacher. I can't even begin to describe the joy and pride I have when I see students of mine shine and succeed; not only in their theatrical work but in the future journeys that life presents them as they go along their path. Nothing has given me a greater sense of satisfaction. Thank you to those who have been a part of this- students, parents, administrators, and those who have come out to support the work of these young people.

Now, I am taking a chance and sharing my challenge with you all. My desire is to become certified as a teacher and to be able to lead a program on a full-time basis. I have tried for years to get the funding I need set aside to be able to pursue a program full-time; which will allow me to get the certification I need to be hired in a public school district. However, with the challenges of working in the arts, my inability to secure loans for school (as I acquired a great deal while earning both my Bachelors and Masters degrees), as well as personal issues along the way (medical and otherwise), I have not been successful in putting away enough to make my dream a reality.

As I settle firmly into my middle years, I know the window of making this happen is getting smaller by the day. I have to make some hard decisions and be willing to go for what I need to make my future more certain. This is why I've reached out via my GoFundMe campaign and hope that those who see this will consider supporting my dream. Your donation will allow me to complete a certification program in nine months, with the ability to then be hired into a public school district and begin my work on a full-time basis (hopefully, by next school year!) I am working to get the needed funding acquired in the next 30 days. This would allow me to confirm that I can move forward with the program and have the funding necessary for tuition, educational materials, and online resources to complete the program while continuing to work full-time and sustain my everyday life.

I believe in the power of theatre and the importance of the arts in our culture and community. I want to share all I can before I leave this mortal coil. I hope that you will consider helping me share my passion, knowledge, and experience with future generations. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I look forward to seeing what happens. Have a brilliant day!
