Fund Lydia Garza's Legal Fight for Her Birth Name

I was born in 1977 and was later adopted. I found my birth mother in 2016. On November 6th of 2022, I finally found a relative with the closest DNA to my birth father, off 23andMe. She is my father's niece. She gave me more information than I ever thought I would know. I now had a photo of my father holding me. I finally had a photo of myself as a baby.

Currently, I am at the front end of a divorce. When all is said and done, I would like to take my birth father's last name. I am almost 50 years old, and the idea of being so close to finally being the person I was born to be is exciting. However, I petitioned the courts in 2023 and I was denied. So this GoFundMe is in hopes of raising enough money to hire a lawyer, so that I may have access to my original birth certificate, prior to the adoption. So I may officially become and take on the name I was born with, Lydia Garza.
