Fight for Brooklyn Tran

Donation protected
Brooklyn is our sweet, happy and kind 4-year-old boy who has been heartbreakingly diagnosed with an aggressive childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma.

Brooklyn’s journey started with persistent leg pains which were misdiagnosed as remnants of a virus and after being sent home, returned to hospital to eventually be diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma.

This delay in getting treatment meant that the tumour in Brooklyn's stomach had grown to the size of a melon, pushing against his left lung, making it difficult for him to breathe and reliant on a morphine drip to manage the constant pain. After a mere 3 weeks, the cancer has spread to his skull, knees, behind the ears and around the spine.

The tumour in Brooklyn’s stomach is too big and risky to be operated on so he’s currently undergoing 6 rounds of chemotherapy and blood transfusions before it can take place in 6 months or so. After chemo, he’ll need a bone marrow transplant, a few rounds of radiation and 6 rounds of maintenance chemotherapy. In total, Brooklyn’s treatment and recovery will likely go on for a year.

Brooklyn's mum is our beautiful, loving and cheeky Cara, who’s 25 years old and a full-time mum to this beautiful boy. John, Brooklyn’s dad is 33 years old and works as a subcontractor, with no entitlement to carer’s or paid leave. This means that if John doesn’t work, he doesn’t get paid.

Your donations will enable John to be at home more often to emotionally and physically support Brooklyn and Cara as well as assist in paying the mortgage, daily expenses such as groceries, utilities and medical bills. The long road to recovery is costly and includes special needs from occupational therapy and counselling to school tutoring - sadly, Brooklyn is likely to miss the beginning of his first year of Kindergarten as he’ll still be in the recovery process.

We’ve come together as collective of family and friends to raise money for Brooklyn’s recovery. My name is Carey, a close friend of John’s and helping me is Debbie, Cara’s cousin. We’re both from Sydney and live nearby to the family, supporting where we can with the upkeep of their home and day to day errands whilst their time is spent on Brooklyn and his recovery.

Our little boy is fighting for his life. Please consider donating and helping our family, who we love so much. Help Cara and John remain strong, focused and at Brooklyn’s side throughout his battle.
