Tutor’s Treehouse, is located in Torrance, California, and offers a full service, academic support program for children in school, ages 4 ½ - 17 years old. Tutor’s Treehouse provides a safe and supportive environment for busy, working families. 


Tutor’s Treehouse is owned and operated by Ameryah Henderson. The business represents the legacy of her Grandmother, Ruby. Ameryah’s story is one of being destined to become part of the foster care system given the circumstances she was born into. Her grandmother, Ruby, did not let that happen. She took on the role of raising Ameryah, and nurturing her into the woman that she is now. Because of the attention and nurturing her grandmother provided, she went on to  complete school as an honor student, to get her Bachelor’s Degree at UC Berkeley and went on to continue her studies at USC.


Drawn to making a difference for children of all ages, and their education, Ameryah took all the goodness from her Grandmother Ruby and created Tutor’s Treehouse, providing the same safe environment her grandmother had given to her. The legacy of Ruby, lives on through Tutor’s Treehouse by creating an environment where all children are wanted, and accepted, where they are nurtured and empowered. 


Tutor’s Treehouse provides an environment where no matter what the circumstance, children and parents experience partnership such that children achieve academic success, creating a future of being a high school graduate, a college graduate and going on to make a powerful difference in the world, for themselves, their families and perhaps even their own children. 


Since the pandemic, at a time when families aren’t necessarily able to supervise their children’s virtual education at home, due to their work requirements, the staff at Tutor’s Treehouse meets these daily needs for students’ virtual classroom sessions and beyond. 


Tutors Treehouse provides snacks and lunch to the students, keeping them fueled throughout the day, as well as a safe indoor space for physical activity and games to play.


Tutor’s Treehouse ensures that by the end of the day, students have completed their homework, having provided additional educational/tutoring support as needed. 


Staff at Tutor’s Treehouse supports all aspects of a child’s educational day in a Covid safe environment.

Since the pandemic restrictions began in California, in March 2020, Tutor’s Treehouse has faced many ups and downs. First, a number in the reduction of students as Covid restrictions were initially going into effect, thus reducing enrollment and business funds. Once Covid educational requirements became more clear, Tutor’s Treehouse was able to reconfigure their services to meet the needs of virtual classrooms for all ages. Tutor’s Treehouse is now providing an ESSENTIAL service to students and their families.


Due to the number of months that were unclear with standards of running the facility due to Covid, Tutor’s Treehouse got behind financially, unable to adequately fund all aspects needed to run their business. 


Your contribution to Tutor’s Treehouse today, will support components to keep the business going, such as contributing to the rental cost of the physical location, tutors, hiring new, qualified people who are struggling to find work, and Covid safe physical activities for the students


Ameryah holds a Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley in Ethnic Studies. In addition to being an experienced business owner with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry.
