Fund for Janelle's Service dog

Janelle Mostad is an intelligent, compassionate, and fun-loving, individual. Being her friend over the years has been an absolute blessing. Tragically, Janelle was in a jet skiing accident in 2014. Not only was the accident life altering for Janelle, it was only months after her wedding day and her husband was also involved in the accident. Janelle suffered two subarachnoid hemorrhages, multiple broken teeth (7 that had to be replaced with implants), and a completely ripped bicep tendon. Due to the accident, Janelle now suffers from double-vision, short-term memory loss, and epilepsy. Over the last couple of years, she has undergone procedures to help with the seizures but they still occur almost daily. In addition to these residual effects from the accident, Janelle is unable to work or drive. Before the accident, Janelle was highly dedicated and respected Intensive Care Registered Nurse. Janelle can no longer work as a nurse and not being able to be an RN is devastating for her. To say life has been an adjustment is an understatement.

This amazing family has not only had to endure the accident itself and the lifelong effects, but they have also had to bear the weight of the financial stress. The accident, the procedures, and the inability to work has left Janelle and her husband, Loren, in a strained financial position. They are hoping to start a new life together in Missoula, MT but strongly believe that a service dog would greatly increase Janelle's quality of life.  Katie, their new German Shepard puppy, has been graciously welcomed as their newest family member and is working hard to be Janelle's savior. Katie is in training at Wind River Tails and Trails in Florence, MT.

Katie will help Janelle regain independence and assist her in remembering how to get home in a new town. Katie will also be trained to alert bystanders prior to an epilepsy episode which could be life-saving for Janelle.

As a dear friend to Janelle, I feel honored to have her trust and to tell her story.  I can only hope to help in a small way as she begins her new journey. I'm hoping that through this fundraiser, we can help alleviate some of the financial burden associated with the Service Dog training program. Whether it be $2 or $200, anything helps, please consider this family in their time of need.
