Ammar - From Gaza war to Irish Education

South East Technological University (SETU), Ireland has accepted, a Palestinian from Gaza Ammar Salah, a 22-year-old currently residing in Gaza, to restart his studies in Computer Science on a full scholarship after verifying his track record in academic excellence. - Before Ammar can attend school in Ireland, Ammar must first:
- Leave Gaza for Egypt. Currently, the borders are open only for the wounded, and those individuals who have secured an exit permit for a fee of €10,000.
- Once in Egypt, Ammar will process his visa for Ireland which takes 3-4 weeks to complete.
- Once the visa is approved, Ammar will board a plane for Ireland where he will be received by friends and family and driven to Carlow where he will remain for the duration of his stay in Ireland.
We are raising a total of €35,000. The fees to support Ammar from his departure from Gaza to his first year in Ireland look like this:
- €10,000 for a visa to exit Gaza for Egypt
- €300 to cover expenses while in Egypt for 3 weeks awaiting his papers for Ireland
- €700 for a flight from Egypt to Ireland
- €24,000 for Ammar’s first year in Ireland. €2,000 a month for food, therapy, clothes personal hygiene, and rent. Ammar will be traveling to Ireland with the clothes on his back and fully responsible for paying his own way when in Ireland.

Who is Ammar and why is he coming to Ireland?
Ammar is an active community member and a volunteer in the Hult Prize International Competition, known for his academic excellence in Industrial Engineering at the Islamic University of Gaza. He is coming to Ireland to rebuild and continue his aspirations for a better future after the bombing of his university, with the support of his starter maram, who left Gaza in the beginning of September 2023, a couple weeks before the war started, to complete her MA in Digital Marketing and analysis from SETU. Maram resides in Co. Carlow Ireland and has been instrumental in making this happen.
