Fund the Dancers of "Bodies Apart Moving Together"

This is a fundraiser for Bodies Apart Moving Together II, the second film in a trilogy we began just after lockdown in April 2020. The first film (Bodies Apart Moving Together) brought 20 international dancers together (virtually) across space and time to express the human longing to connect in solidarity through the profound initiatory experience of this pandemic. The result was so moving that we decided to expand the project to a trilogy, and co-directors Sophia Wright Emigh and Jaleesa Johnston have just completed the second film with 25 dancers submitting footage from around the world.
We were also so blessed to receive permission to use the song "One Grain of Sand" for this film, by the legendary Odetta, whose position as civil rights activist and musical interpreter of the human experience made her a profound, soulful foundation to the visual element of this project.
If you feel moved by this work, please donate to support these artists or share with those who can. Your donation of any size will be essential in supporting three specific efforts:
1. Compensating out-of-pocket expenses providing each artist with a minimum $50 donation for their contribution of three minutes of footage, with a goal of $100/artist.
2. Ensure accessibility by paying for an audio description for the first and third films in the trilogy (audio description for BAMT II can be found HERE.
3. Any money raised above $100 per artist will go towards stipends to pay dancers for third BAMT film later in 2021. Your donation will ensure we can make the final film and complete the trilogy!
Any other money beyond our goal will be split to pay the co-directors and donated towards Don't Shoot PDX and Showing Up for Racial Justice in Odetta's name.
So many artists have lost significant sources of income during the pandemic and should supported in their important work in the world. These dancers gave of their soul and artistry to share an interpretation of the world's upheaval and underlying forces through their mode of creation --- movement.
