Fulfilling Mama Carmela's Last Wish

We are sad to share that Josh’s grandma, Carmela Rojas Del Cid, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 16th.
Mama Carmela, as she was lovingly called by her family, fought a long battle with advanced, metastatic cancer. She inspired family and friends with her strength to live every day with a smile. She even surprised doctors with her drive to continue living as independently as possible.
Her family members were fortunate enough to create fun memories with Carmela such as visiting Disneyland, seeing the Exposition Park rose gardens in Los Angeles and visiting a Las Vegas casino!
Her two final wishes were to place flowers on our Papa Jose Francisco’s grave in Guatemala and to be buried beside her beloved husband. This spring her family was able to fly her to Guatemala to visit her family and to visit her husband’s resting place.
Our family needs help to fulfill Mama Carmela’s final wish to rest next to our Papa Jose Francisco. We have made arrangements with a funeral home in the United States but are kindly asking for donations to help fund the cost to fly her to Guatemala. Funds raised will also help her daughter Maria De Leon accompany her mother to her final resting place. Any additional funds raised beyond the cost of flights will be used towards a memorial service and gathering in Guatemala.
