Save Bonnie's Home

Anyone who knows my mother knows she has a huge heart.  She has fought and struggled her whole life to overcomes some great atrocities.  If you know her, you also know that she is not one to ask for a hand out, or really help in any way.  But, we're at a difficult crossroads.  She has started the process of applying for a home modification loan through Making Homes Affodable.  Everything was going well until it, after months of application process, paperworkl, faxes upon faxes...that her Home Equity Line of Credit (what many people refer to as a 2nd mortgage or 2nd loan) was not eligible for the process because it is not a primary loan.  The company knew this from the beginning, but put my mother through this hefty process on both the 1st and 2nd mortgages, knowing this would be the outcome.  Here's the crux...she can afford both loans if the initial is modified, with no need to modify the  2nd.  HOWEVER, the mortgage company has decided she CANNOT afford both, and is basically refusing ot modify the first, and has threatened to SHORT SALE HER HOME BASED ON THE SECOND LOAN NOT QUALIFYING!!!!  So, we have until December 9th to figure out how to pay off the 2nd loan so that they will modify the first.  My grandmother has already promised a large sum of money and I am giving her everything I can until that time comes.  Please help my mother.  Her life is made of of family and church.  She lives a simple life, her home being one of the few things in life she is proud of.  If you're surious, she owes far less than the house is worth, but because of this situation they are going to take it.  I don't know what else to do.  Please help.  Thank you!
