As some of you may or may not know, I'm female to male transgender. At the age of 14, I came out to my family and friends. This was probably around the time I started wearing a compression vest to bind my already abnormally large chest.
Because I am transgender, I am forced to wear a compression vest (i.e binder) when I go out. As we know with our president elect- it's not a safe time to be transgender.
This compression vest causes respiratory problems, spinal issues, and mild to extreme neck and back pain. There are times where my binder actually cuts into my back, leaving me with scars and bruises.
I've been wearing these binders for the better part of 7 years now. Because of the additional stress I put on my body, I'm pretty limited in life.
I really look forward to being able to live my best and most productive life!
I am hosting a fundraising event on March 18th 2017 at the backroom of Cat's Cradle. The event is, of course, to help raise money for my surgery.
Bands and artists include Karl Kuehn, Ursa Rust, JJ Sroniolo, Travis Harrington, Balus, and Heavensend.
Raffle prices include a bike donated by Recyclery NC, cowboy boots donated by Sarah Shook, Beehive Salon gift card, and more!
