Ayuda a Formula SAE USB a cumplir su meta

We are the Formula SAE team of Simon Bolivar University, a student group with more than 20 years of experience formed by students from various disciplines. Our objective is to train integral professionals through the construction of a single-seater vehicle destined to participate in the annual Formula SAE competition in Michigan, USA, where universities from all over the world participate. Our members develop different skills and abilities in design, manufacturing, project management, and soft skills, which help their formation as integral professionals.

Somos el equipo de Formula SAE de la universidad Simón Bolívar, una agrupación estudiantil con más de 20 años de trayectoria conformada por estudiantes de diversas disciplinas. Tenemos como objetivo formar profesionales integrales mediante la construcción de un vehículo de monoplaza destinado a participar en la competencia anual de Formula SAE en Michigan, USA, donde participan universidades de todo el mundo. Nuestros integrantes desarrollan distintas habilidades y destrezas en las áreas de diseño, manufactura, manejo de proyectos y gerencia las cuales contribuyen a su formación como profesionales integrales.


Each year of our trajectory implies new challenges, and 2021 has been no exception. The covid pandemic hit us with a reality that we had yet to face. It taught us to start from scratch and with a different work modality to the one we had been used to for 20 years, it took us out of our comfort zone. However, not adapting to this reality would not be an option. For the first few months at home, all we could think about was our prototype and the immense desire to work on it, get it off the ground, and see it run. Little by little, the biosecurity measures implemented worked in our favor, and we began to build what we have today.

Cada año de nuestra trayectoria implica nuevos retos y este no ha sido la excepción. La pandemia del COVID nos golpeó con una realidad que desconocíamos, nos enseñó a empezar de cero y con una modalidad de trabajo distinta a la que teníamos 20 años de costumbre, nos sacó de nuestra zona de confort, sin embargo, no amoldarnos a esta realidad, no sería una opción.
Los primeros meses en casa, solo pensábamos en nuestro prototipo y las inmensas ganas de trabajar en él, sacarlo adelante y verlo correr. Poco a poco, las medidas bio-seguridad implementadas jugaron a nuestro favor y empezamos a construir lo que hoy ya tenemos.


However, the Covid pandemic was the beginning of our problems. When we thought that everything was well and that we had overcome step by step every need that the car had, and we were days away from leaving for Michigan, our Yamaha R6 engine began to fail to the point that starting it became a struggle task. For this reason, if we want to match our #16 position in the static tests, in the dynamic tests, we must replace it as soon as we arrive in the USA.

Sin embargo, la pandemia del Covid, fue el inicio de nuestros problemas. Cuando pensábamos que todo estaba bien, que habíamos superado poco a poco cada necesidad que tenía el carro, y estábamos a días de irnos a Michigan, nuestro Motor Yamaha R6 empezó a presentar fallas al punto de que prender el mismo, se volvió una tarea difícil y si queremos igualar nuestro puesto #16 de las pruebas estáticas, en las dinámicas, debemos reemplazarlo apenas lleguemos a USA.


We are always asked, what is the secret to keeping the team moving forward with all these inconveniences? And the answer is always love, conviction, excellence, and desire to be. But we wish that with this list of adjectives we could solve every one of the problems that arise in the development of the project, which start from the engine troubles and end in its air shipping of the prototype and its tools.

Siempre nos preguntan, ¿Cuál es el secreto para con todos estos inconvenientes sigamos sacando al equipo adelante? Y la respuesta siempre será amor, convicción, excelencia y ganas de ser. Pero cuando quisiéramos que con esa lista de adjetivos pudiésemos solventar todo y cada uno de los problemas que renacen en la construcción del mismo, que empiezan desde el motor, y terminan en él envió aéreo del prototipo y sus herramientas.


We don't want to give up and we know you don't want it to happen either. We know that every little achievement we have in our team, is a great joy for others, and that is what counts and motivates us. We do not want to stop transmitting that joy and example to follow, we want our country and all those who see us continue feeling proud of the young people who are being formed today, and what will be formed tomorrow. No queremos rendirnos y sabemos que ustedes tampoco quieren que suceda. Sabemos que cada pequeño logro que tenemos en nuestro equipo, es una gran alegría para otros, y eso es realmente lo que cuenta y nos motiva. No queremos dejar de trasmitir esa alegría y ejemplo a seguir, queremos que nuestro país y todos los que nos vean sigan sintiéndose orgulloso por los jóvenes que se están formando en el día de hoy, y lo que se formaran en el día del mañana. ¿Tú también nos ayudarás a que sigamos haciendo historia?
