From the Heart of a Grieving Parent

On October 6, 2020, I received the most devastating news that no parent wants to hear “My 20 year old old daughter Kimani Foster, her best friend Dior Berkeley and their other friend Ali Mohammed were in a car wreck. The driver survived.

Although scared and devastated, I was undoubtedly unprepared for the tsunami of hurt, anger and grief that would hit me once I got to the scene. My one and only beautiful baby girl and her friends were gone.

Not only were they in a car wreck, where the car went airborne and into a tree, but theirs lives were taken in the process.

After their passing, we would constantly place sentimental items by the tree side but items would be removed from the area. After a long battle with the City, I finally received the approval to permanently memorialize the tree with a tree guard and plaque which would include all three of their names; as I struggle to reclaim power over my emotions at the mere thought of passing the area. This is not a place of joy, but it is in fact a place where all three took their last breath. Therefore, they deserve to be honored at that very spot.

Although, I received approval for the tree guard and plaques, the City is unwilling to pay for safe railing to protect the lives of others.

I am asking for your support with what little strength I have left, to help me with my attempt to help prevent another parent from experiencing such agony.

Again, please help in my effort to save the lives of others by raising funds to put a guard railing around the very tree that claimed the lives of 3 beautiful souls with their ages ranging from 19, 20, and 21. Not evening affording them the opportunity to embark on the world.

I can not get my daughter back ever but hopefully together we can bring awareness and save someone's else.
