I have prepared for this moment for the past 15 years, every month, every week, six days a week, 4 hours each day.
When I turned 14 years old, I discovered I wanted to become a professional ballet dancer. I realized that I loved the feeling and energy that the stage gives off. The chance to dance on a stage that many influential men and women blessed and graced, with their artistry and power, fills me with pride. It is such an amazing opportunity and blessing to be able to express myself through dance. Last month when I was getting out of class and I saw a teacher from Alvin Ailey. That day my friend and I took a photo with her. Then later on that day I was invited to come to an audition for the school summer intensive. Alvin Ailey is one of the best dance companies in the world. Their summer training program provides young dancers with an opportunity to receive 6 weeks of intense training that is unmatched in the dance world. I was so nervous but I tried my best. My mom always taught me to leave it all on the dance floor. I was thrilled when I found out that I was accepted into this prestigious program!!! But I am graduating from high school this year and going to college, so my parents don't have the extra funds for additional dance training.
