Kevin Curtis Cancer Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Kevin Curtis is a loving husband, father of two, amazing brother, friend, and probably one of the funniest, kindest, and most generous guys out there.

In July 2017 Kevin was admitted to New England Baptist Hospital for a long awaited surgery that would ease his extreme neck and back pain that he had been living with for over a decade. During the surgery, his doctor found a lump in Kevin's chest and suggested Kevin book an appointment with a cancer specialist to have a biopsy. Little did our family know that this appointment would change his life.

The past 9 months Kevin and his family have been in and out of labs, MRI's, CT scans, rehabilitation centers, recovery units, and countless surgeon's offices. That lump turned out to be a reoccurrence of Renal Cell Carcinoma that Kevin had fought over 16 years prior, had lost one of his kidney's to and thought he had beaten. The cancer had metastasized to his collar bone and had created a growth so large it had broken through the bone. He went in for surgery at Brigham and Women's hospital on December 15th to have his entire collarbone and most of his sternum removed and replaced with a large amount of bone from his hips. He went through an extensive recovery at Health South Rehabilitation Center, only to be hospitalized again for a severe infection underneath the new bone. After undergoing another surgery to clean the site, he was admitted to Brigham and Women's twice more as his body was not able to process the antibiotic given to him. Since his diagnosis, he has lost over 50 lbs, and has had to have many rehabilitative therapies to rebuild his skills on top of his extensive treatment and recovery.

With every appointment, procedure, therapy, and treatment comes a cost. Because of Kevin's illness, he has not been able to work and his wife who is a retired teacher, has had to work multiple jobs just to make sure she can cover living expenses and treatment. Neither of them would ever admit it but this has been extremely hard on both of them.

Kevin is a humble man and a giver. He would never ever ask for help himself so we are asking for him. We as Kevin's closest friends and family are hosting a fundraiser for Kevin to help supplement his expenses during his cancer recovery and to let him know how much he is loved. The event will be a night for Kevin's closest friends and family to get together and share in a night of laughter and fun while helping to offset costs associated with his illness. All donations will go directly to Kevin's cancer recovery fund.

For those who are unable to attend the event we have also set up  this GoFundMe page for donations and well wishes to Kevin. This is also a SURPRISE event so please don't mention anything to Kevin or post on social media!

Thank you for your support! We will keep you updated on his status. We appreciate every single one of you for all the love and support we have received. For all your prayers. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Sincerely,
The Friends of Kevin Curtis Benefit Committee
