On August 8th 2016 beloved son, and best friend, Matthew Daniels passed away from an accidental overdose of heroin laced with fentanyl. Now, Matthew's friends and family have banned together to fight this deadly epidemic the best way we know how.. helping others faced with Substance Use Disorder. Matthew loved helping people and had the most generous heart of anyone we knew, so we are launching FriendsMATTer in his honor.
FriendsMATTer (Monitoring Affliction Treatmeant To End Relapse) is an organization that is being formed to help the support network around each recovering person through five years of the recovery process, when relapse rates drop to 15 percent. Typically relapse occurs in the first two years of treatment with statistics citing 65 to 85 percent fail rate. In many cases the family and friends of the recovering are unaware the relapse cycle has started until it’s too late, after an overdose has occurred.
We are putting our professional talents to work in raising awareness, educating and strengthening the
communications between people in the support network of the recovering person, so they can participate in a more pivotal role in the rehab process. We are developing performance-based programs for schools to educate and raise awareness to relapse issues, and an app that maintains synced communications between every person in the support network for the recovering, while providing useful reminders helpful to those monitoring the recovery process of their afflicted friend or family member.
