Sok Samnang is my friend of 14 years, my colleague in teaching, and my mentor on all things Cambodian. The Teachers Across Borders (TAB) Initiatives led by myself, Kathy Klug, Anna Östman, Jenny Kimming, and others is a testimony to his advance planning, tireless devotion to education, and personal vision that Cambodia can be a place of education for all and professional status for educators.
Samnang works several jobs. He is both entrepreneurial and enterprising. He is a certified guide and tells the history and story of his country with great knowledge and pride. Samnang and Thavry are now involved in a community bio-diversity project that allows visitors to see Cambodia beyond the temples and markets. He is an educated man, a family man, and a man who loves his country. I want to keep him financial functioning so he can help the TAB dream and his come true.
I am launching this initiative to support Samnang so he can continue to support TAB in its mission and at the multiple teacher workshops throughout the year. Samnang supports his lovely, creative, and hard-working wife Thavry, his three school age children and nephews who live with him. I am making a monthly contribution and will launch this today with an initial $100.00. I am hoping you will do the same as you see fit and as it works for your budgeting.
Samnang drops everything to see that the TAB effort goes on and on and on…beyond our 1, 10, or 15 years in Cambodia. Please TABers and friends join me in this effort to help our friend maintain the ability to serve TAB and his community through our gifts.
