My name is Sonja Moffat. I am a resident, business owner and Mom of two kids here in Hanalei. Our community experienced a severe storm that flooded our schools, homes and businesses on April 14, 2018.
So many families have lost so much in this flood. But as a strong community, we have begun to support each other in this time of need. The community has banded together to clear away debris and began to assess the damage at hand. With the outpouring of support, we have been able to move from house to house, school to school and business to business helping to rebuild all we have lost.
There are so many funds out right now collecting for those in need.
I am creating this fund for three families who have lost absolutely everything. They are my neighbors. They lost their cars, everything inside their homes (furniture, clothing, appliances, even their flooring) and had to miss work to be able to deal with their loss.
All the funds raised here will go exclusively to these families here in Hanalei in need of floor removal, Sheetrock removal and rebuilding. These families are displaced until this work can be done. As most know, housing is slim here. So getting these houses back up and running is priority.
This is a safe place to donate. You can contact me at anytime to find out who is getting what. Our goal is to get as much as soon as possible due to rapid mold growth.
These families needs are immediate. Each time you donate I will forward money to them from my own account so they do not have to wait for the withdrawal period. Again, these funds will be used towards flooring, furniture, bedding, clothing and food.
