This fundraiser is being conducted by a friend of the BCFW, not by the club itself.
The Bass Club of Fort Worth is in need of new scales for their weigh-ins. The calibration of the current scales has been a topic of discussion amongst the members for months now. The manufacturer of the current scales was contacted for refurbishing, only to find that the owner has passed and his family is not currently offering the refurbishing service. They also have looked at industrial style scales that are reasonable in price, but lack the ability to “lock-in” on the weight. (think actively moving fish and wind) So, after much research I have identified a weigh-in system that will serve the needs of the club, much better than the current scales, for years to come.
The H2 Scales Deluxe System by Pro Tournament Scales consist of the H2 Scales, a LED Display with 4" tall numbers & tripod, and custom carrying case. The scales are self-zeroing and will lock-in on “moving weight” in 4 seconds. (see below YouTube link for demo) Currently members must block wind from the scales, and constantly must work to calm active fish to get the weight. Even then, the tournament director uses a judgment call on when he has the weight locked-in. This system could be a game changer for their weigh-ins by reducing the wait time in line, thereby reducing stress on their catch, allowing them to release the fish as quickly as possible. The addition of an LED display ensures that everyone has a chance to see the weights, in real time, as they cross the scales. There is also a capability of integrating the scales with weigh-in software at a later date.
The system (link below), with scales, LED display, tripod, carrying case, chargers, 2 baskets, tax & freight adds up to right at $1,800. (updated goal: negotiated a discount)Knowing that this is way out of reach of the club’s budget, I personally started this fundraiser, and my wife & I have contributed $250 to get the effort started.
