Friends 4 Life Get 2nd Chance - The John & JC Fund
John Breland and JC Hulen are best of friends. They hunt and fish together. They BBQ together. They share a deep bond and special friendship. We should all be so lucky!
Both also serve the community in various ways. They serve as moderators on an online fishing group and have helped hundreds, if not thousands, of anglers with their expertise and knowledge. They've given away more than a little fish at the ramps.
Whether it's frying fish at the Community Stewpot on Mother's Day...
or picking up litter on the Pearl River...
or cleaning up tire dumps from our waterways. They are doing it together!
So it was no surprise the two left together on a fishing trip to Wolf Lake just a few miles north of Yazoo City, Mississippi on Sunday, February 28th. What was surely a fun day of fishing and making memories quickly turned tragic after beginning the long trip home!
A vehicle approaching them crossed into their lane resulting in a devastating head-on collision. John and JC were severely injured with JC being airlifted to UMC while John was transported by ambulance. Both sustained critical injuries.
After multiple surgeries, they are finally in rooms. They are not out of the woods. There are concerns regarding the extent of the injuries and how well they will be able to recover. Both are facing months of physical therapy and a slow healing process. We do not know to what degree the financial impact will be but it may well be in the hundreds of thousands and neither will be able to resume working for some time.
First, we ask our friends, fishermen, eco-warriors, and fellow Mississippians to continue to pray for John and JC's quick and complete recovery!
