Photo shows Malick Jagne with the Honourable Halifa Sallah , one of the most popular Gambian politicians who Malick interviewed about the crisis in the Gambia and issues within his community and the country as a  whole. Halifa Sallah also lectured about the constitutional reforms commission and political reforms in the Gambia - matters dear to Malick's heart.

The first milestone has been reached!! Through this page and the so very generous donations - mostly from people who know me, Debbie, but not Malick - a loan Malick Jagne raised through his good standing, not least the support here, and sponsorship from his student union/welfare organisation, Malick can now resume his studies with four semesters covered! For the next period .. that is a new bridge to cross when the time comes. For now read below and read the latest update. SO very many thanks so far and so very  far!

The hope with this fundraising is to raise finance for my friend Malick Jagne, a young Gambian who has only a low wage, to complete his degree course at the University of Gambia in the faculty of Law
. He  had to leave his degree course after barely 6 months as his circumstances changed and he could no longer continue studying.  He was driving a taxi to pay his way but the car owner took it away because he did not believe the amounts Malick was earning. So being resourceful Malick joined the Gambian Army, believing also that that would further his ambition to become a peace activist as well as helping him pay his way supporting his family.  I met Malick when I was there working at a cultural Festival - he was driving us - and was struck by his clarity of purpose so I have decided to help by setting up this fund.  The target of this fund is £3000 which is for 8 semesters and some contribution to books and other expenses.  Malick would work to keep his family home together as well as study as he did before when driving the taxi. The course allows for that .

Malick had some excellent results for  2018

Advance Diploma in Peace and  Conflict Result for  January 2018

ADPCS..result Annex MDI university

Dr. Felix..international conflict management...80%

Dr. Felix.... Ethnicity and culture..76%

Mr.Magai...Religion in conflict.....72%

Dr.Sasi...peace initiative and peace building....84%

Let's do our best to enable Malick to resume his studies and build on this! Making a dream a reality

Below Malick outlines his case:

"APPLICATION FOR SPONSORSHIP FOR A BACHELOR DEGREE IN PEACE AND CONFLICT STUDIES AT THE DEPARTMENT OF POLICY AND ANALYSIS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF THE GAMBIA FACULTY OF LAW (MDI ROAD).   The course costs 19,950 Gambian Dalassi per semester. [About £320 rounded up]

I am writing this letter with a great honour and respect to the above mentioned subject.  The financial condition of my family is very poor as I do not have a father and my mother is not earning any income based on salary or business.  I am the only earning member of the family and have  to take care of our home and other vital expenses.    I am currently employed by Gambia armed forces as a non-commission officer at the rank of lance corporal and, although I had to interrupt my course, I am a student of peace and conflict resolution studies, under the Department of Policy and Analysis at the Gambia University annex complex Management Development Institute (MDI).

I obtained my Diploma and Advance Diploma in peace and conflict studies on January 2017 to January 2018 at the said school.  I am hoping to raise funds to continue my studies to degree level and this is why I am appealing through Go Fund Me hoping for your generous support.

My aim is to become a peace activist or mediator and serve the society, community, the country and the globe as a whole and take myself in such a position in career, where I can help the other needy students to continue their studies.  I see this field of studies as a very important field in our societies moreover in Africa, the status of my job as military officer and globally as a whole. Because we all see and know that the current state affairs  we are living in today is full of conflict and violence and Africa as a continent experiences wars. as part of this.

I believe this field of studies can help to re-orientate the society and prevent the globe from such violence and conflicts.  To enable us to enjoy global relationships with other countries through institutions not forces.  Through this field we would able to defend and maintain our integrity positively. Also applied knowledge through this will help to introduce the regime of democracy .There are many prospects and terms to be observed  and applied  but just to mention few here.

I will be grateful to you if you kindly respond to this financial appeal and help me to continue with my studies which will make all the difference  to my future employment prospects and to my ability to help others needing similar support to me in my current situation AND  to contribute to making real change and progress towards peace and democratic outcomes.

Thank you    Malick Jagne
