Freya the Chihuahua needs liver surgery

Nine months ago we adopted Freya, who was about a year old at the time, from the Humane Society.  We have been so happy to have her and she latched on to our entire family right away.  About a month after we brought her home Freya started having seizures and we noticed she was drinking excessive amounts of water and urinating frequently.   She would also have very strange episodes of what appeared to be confusion and loss of coordination.  She started odd behaviors like rubbing her snout with her paws repeatedly and lost the ability to jump onto our bed.  We knew something was really wrong.  After a few trips to the veterinarian's office, he determined that Freya has a liver shunt.   Basically, she has a vessel that goes around her liver instead of through it, so her liver doesn't filter out toxins in her blood.   She was most certainly born with this and we personally believe that it was the reason she was turned over to the Humane Society.  In my mind, I know it is not possible that no one noticed this before us.  The good news is, there is a surgery that can be done to correct the defect in Freya's liver and make her like a healthy new pup.  We think it is worth the chance, but it is quite expensive.  I am starting this campaign to raise money to fund Freya's testing and surgery.  Please consider donating to help our baby girl.  Thank you!!  The Arnetts.
