Frequency Festival

The 3rd Annual Frequency Festival runs  February 20-25, 2018, and this year we've upped our ambitions for the program in a big way. We're presenting several Chicago premieres, including the first solo performance by cellist Mariel Roberts of Mivos Quartet and the debut of Montreal's masterful Quatuor Bozzini. New York's Wet Ink Ensemble will give the premieres of new works by Sam Pluta and Alex Mincek. One of the most exciting projects is the first Chicago portrait concert of the singular composer Julius Eastman, who's music has been the subject of recent festivals in Los Angeles, London, and New York.

That particular concert, on Sunday, February 25 at 2 PM at the Chicago Cultural Center is free to the public, but we've run into some unexpected expenses in mounting. The event involves fourteen musicians and two grand pianos, and the cellist Seth Parker Woods has invested a ton of work in curating the program and assembling a stellar team of collaborators. The technical requirements for that concert and some of the general operating costs of the festival at large are exceeding our resources, so we're turning to you to help make this festival a reality.

As the Frequency Series nears its fifth birthday we know that such a milestone wouldn't have been possible without the passionate support of contemporary music lovers and advocates in Chicago and beyond. This year we're asking for just a little bit more to make this year's edition of the festival the most spectacular and ambitious one yet.
