French Creek OM 2018 - Off to Iowa!

Donation protected
The French Creek Odyssey of the Mind Team is off to the 2018 World Finals May 23-27 at Iowa State after placing second at the State Competition on April 7th and first place at regionals on March 10th. The team is excited and proud to have the opportunity to represent French Creek, Owen J. Roberts School District and the local area at the largest international creative problem-solving competition in the world!

While qualifying to compete in the World Finals is exciting, the reality is it's expensive.  To get to World Finals in Iowa, the team and their families must cover :

- Transportation to and from Ames, Iowa
- Lodging and meals for 4-6 days
- Shipping costs to get the Team's long term problem solution to Iowa.

With World Finals at the end of May, the team has a short amount of time to raise the funds needed to get them on the road to Iowa.

While the OMers (as the kids are called) are not allowed any outside assistance with their project, you can assist in getting them to Worlds by providing financial support. Please help this amazing Team get to Worlds by making a donation.

The team graciously appreciates any help you can give and thanks you for your support.

What is Odyssey of the Mind?
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college.  Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.  They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state and world level.  Thousands of teams from throughout the US and 25 other countries participate in the program.  Odyssey of the Mind problems challenge students to go beyond conventional thinking and incorporate creative problem solving in learning.  Students learn the value of brainstorming and teamwork, as they grow their self-confidence and appreciation for the ideas and strengths of others while in an encouraging team-focused atmosphere.

Over 825 teams from around the world will compete in the 38th Odyssey of the Mind World Finals. The competition emphasizes creativity and teamwork and has grown into the largest international creative problem-solving competition worldwide.
