Dear Fellow Warriors,
This past January, I won a full tuition (housing included) to a week long Teacher Training Workshop with Stage Combat Deutschland in Freiburg, Germany. I was shocked, honored, overjoyed, and completely overwhelmed to be given such a unique opportunity to train with top notch combat teachers overseas!
This workshop is specifically geared towards Fight Choreographers, Directors, and Teachers who want to sharpen their skill & technique when communicating to and working with the actor/student. As the SCD website states, "A good fight director must also be a good combat teacher." I whole heartedly agree.
As a professional theatrical artist, I have been studying, training, choreographing, teaching, and performing Stage Combat for over a decade. Currently, I hold the title of Advanced Actor Combatant with The Society of American Fight Directors and I am beginning to carve out my path to one day become a Certified Teacher. The Universe truly brought this gift to me at the perfect point in my career!
Not only do I have an immense amount of passion for this art form, but I've also always had a burning desire to travel and study abroad. The opportunity to both further my training and go on a grand adventure is truly a dream come true!
And that's where you come in, my friends. The workshop is slated for mid-May. It's coming up quick! January & February were filled with unexpected moving expenses. I'm working hard to try and save money on my own with my actor-fight-director-yoga-teacher-barista paycheck for travel & meal expenses while in Germany--but without some help, I fear I may not be able to make it happen. My hope is that by reaching out, something I don't often do, I can make this amazing opportunity a reality!!
