Freeport Flag Ladies
Donation protected
These amazing patriots have devoted every Tuesday morning since 9/11/01 to standing on the corner of Main and School Streets in Freeport, Maine. They have pledged their time to waving their flags and encouraging others to appreciate the freedoms that we have due to our military, police, and fire fighters.
They have met troops going and coming through Bangor, spoken to countless school groups, sent packages to deployed service members, and many other efforts to show what it means to appreciate where we live and our freedoms.
They realize another winter will be too trying and will end their run of more than 900 days on Main St. this coming Sept. 11. Those of us who appreciate their contributions would like to be able to provide them with a trip to the National September 11 Memorial in New York City. The funds will pay travel, meals, and a tour for these 3 dedicated women.
They helped secure pieces of the World Trade Center towers to become a memorial so that we cannot forget the devastation and lives lost on that terrible day. We see that memorial every time we drive by the Public Safety building. They have contributed more than words can express and we would like to be able to offer this small gesture to let them know we appreciate all they have done through their unfailing dedication.
Thank you for your help.
