Giving Youth Hope in New Orleans!
Hi my name is Laura Harper, born and raise in New Orleans. I went from pillow to post, foster home to foster home until finally I finsihed High School and grew up being released from the foster home without notice at 18 years old. Nevertheless, right before my high school graduation I meet a very wonderful family doing positive things in different communities, they believed in me, gave me hope for a better future. With foster care being the way it is, once I reach 18 years old they told me I was on my own. I had no idea where I would live, how I would eat, where I would sleep and never thought I would have a chance to attend college. I didn't know which way to turn when this family took me in and gave me a new life, they adopted me giving me their last name. I never knew how wonderful the world was, I was so use too the daily abuse and neglect imposed by the many foster parents in my life, in every home I was sent too, I endured extreme physical and mental abuse. Now I have reached the age of 38 year old and just as the Harper family helped me I promised myself that I would continue doing the same for other children in the inner city streets of New Orleans.
I want to Pay It Forward to inner city youth of New Orleans. With the funds raised here a private donor will match every single dollar for dollar. I am asking anyone and everyone who reads this to Pay It Forward or pass it on to someone who will. Your donations will be put toward 5 full ride's scholarships to help 5 inner city youth to attend the college of their choice, every 3 month. All scholarships will be announced using social media, newspapers, radio and handouts.
Pay It Forward and give a youth a chance to get the education they would otherwise not be able to afford. Thanking you all in advance for your support. Give until it feels good!
