Free Printing for Black Zinemakers

In summer of 2020 we offered to coordinate free printing for Black zinemakers. We never expected the overwhelming response from people looking for printing!

With the help of Print Unity , Irrelevant Press, and Floss Editions and a dozen volunteers we were able to offer over 100 Black zinemakers a chance for their zine to be in print.

Zines have been unnecessarily commercialized, and it's harder to find a cheap copy shop. Comprehensive DIY zine education doesn't exist in most places. We want to make small steps in making zine making accessible to everyone regardless of resources and support people in expanding not just their zine making knowledge but knowledge of the cultural context of this medium.

We want to kick off this new initiative with offering another round of free printing for Black zinemakers. We understand that people are less resourced this time around and if we are to make it happen we need to fundraise:

We are partnering with Seiche Press to accept 75 zines for printing.

$5,000 would cover:

30 copies of each zine to the zinemaker

*postage

*paper

*ink

*staples

*machine maintenance and repair

*labor stipend

(for a cost of $2.22 for every zine printed)
