Fred’s kidney transplant care

As most of you know Fred has had some issues with his kidneys that started several years ago and due to this, he has been having to do dialysis 3 times a week for the last 7 yrs. and been on the active donation list for almost that long. Well the other day he got the call and was given a kidney. This just happened, and while God has blessed him with this opportunity, the financial responsibility of recovery is quickly coming up.
The recovery time is a huge cost that Fred didn’t have the opportunity to set aside. As a result of this illness, Fred has become unable to do what he has done for a living for years because the state will not give him the license needed to continue doing what he does. He has worked odd jobs here and there but nothing substantial. He will be able to get his license after he gets through this part and I think that’s what I’ve seen give him the most excitement again, being independent and able to make a living and get on with his future.
Fred is a good man that many of us have at one time or another had on our couches, to get advice from, or an encouraging word from him, or he may have needed a room to stay in for a “minute” , but it was always just Fred (sometimes Biff) and always a friend. Lets help him and the people that are helping with his care so we can get Fred back to being 100% again.
He has some really good people that are taking time off of work and trying to help with the costs, but again the costs are quickly mounting. He has to have 24 hr care which requires them to actually live with Fred in New Orleans for this period. These people all have families and are from the Baton Rouge are so this is quite a substantial undertaking that they are all happy to take on. The recovery time is anywhere from 4-6 weeks and depending on how well everything is going, possibly longer.
Please help us help Fred and his caretakers be able to focus on recovery and Fred’s recovery care.
