Thank you for being part of our lives and for sharing our love.
We have decided to setup this fund instead of a wedding registry because a gift like this has a much deeper meaning for us.
Last year Lyn found out she was a carrier of a genetic disorder called Fragile X syndrome. Many women who are carriers also have Premature Ovarian Failure (POF). When she found out she was a carrier she asked to be tested for POF and found out she is going through premature menopause at the age of 33.
After joining a support group, meeting with doctors, and doing research; we have found we have a few options for having a baby. One is adoption, but it can actually be more expensive than infertility treatments. The option we would like to pursue is egg donation in combination with Invitro Fertilization (IVF). There are multiple clinics that offer these treatments but none in Duluth offer egg donation. We will have to travel. The average cost of the treatments at the Twin Cities clinics is approximately $25000 to $40000.
