During October 2016, Franklin came to NY for the first time to commence a new life along with his wife. They have been married for several years and decided it was time to seek employment in NY and start a family. Franklin was eager to start working and started seeking employment opportunities upon his arrival. However, things did not go as planned. Franklin started experiencing frequent stomach discomfort after eating. No matter what he ate he was frequently feeling ill but neither his family nor Franklin thought it was something serious. As time went on, Franklin realized that the discomfort was increasing and he began to experience other symptoms.

During February 2017, just a few weeks after his 32nd birthday, Franklin received devastating news as he was diagnosed with stage 4-colon cancer. Since then Franklin has be receiving chemotherapy every 15 days. Since his cancer was significantly advanced, he has been receiving aggressive chemo that often leaves him feeling ill for numerous days and unable to leave his home (including vomiting, stomach discomfort, etc.) During February 2017, his life changed in an instant. Unfortunately, he has been unable to seek employment due to his symptoms and treatment and is unable to start his family as he was expecting.

Today Franklin continues to receive chemotherapy and was recently advised that the cancerous mass in his colon has grown 6cm. Since the mass has not reduced despite the various treatments, Franklin doctors have advised him that they are unable to do surgery and can only continue to give him chemotherapy. Franklin and his family have obtained other medical opinions however; all medical professionals have said surgery would not be an option due to the size of the mass.

Although, Franklin receives some medical benefits through the state of NY, there are numerous daily expenses that have become a financial burden for Franklin and his wife (including but not limited to medications, transportation (to and from the hospital for treatment) rent, groceries, etc.). His parents have been assisting him with his rent payments; his siblings, friends, and families also continue to contribute to some of his necessities however, we are starting this campaign to continue assisting Franklin and his wife in any way possible.

Life has a way of trying to stop us when we are just about to cross the finish line.  However, Franklin along with his family and friends believe in miracles. Despite the obstacles that Franklin has encountered since he was diagnosed with stage 4-colon cancer, he has not lost his smile or his faith.

Any donation would truly assist Franklin and his wife with their expenses. Franklin and his family thank you in advance for your continued love and support through such difficult times. If you are unable to donate due to financial circumstances, we kindly ask that you take a minute to share Franklin’s story. Thank you.
