Teaching English in Iraq
Donation protected
Hey everyone,
I'm Frank Lopez, a photographer based out of Birmingham, Alabama, and I have the unique opportunity to serve in Northern Iraq (Northern Kurdish region). I hope to spend the next 3 months teaching English and partnering with Samaritan’s Purse to provide relief at refugee camps for over 100,000 Iraqis displaced by ISIS. I would like to invite you to “go with me” on this adventure and invest in the lives of Muslim students overseas.
It is no secret that there is conflict in the Middle East! Genocide, war, & oppression plague our Muslim brothers and sisters overseas. I have often struggled with how to be an agent of peace on American soil post-September 11th. Yet, I am convinced that the Lord did not create me to sit on the sidelines idly. He created me to get my hands dirty and work in the mud of other’s hearts and minds. I believe that the Gospel is transformative. I hope to be the tangible hands and feet of peace overseas, the Light of Jesus in word and deed.
DETAILS: Any funding from this GoFundMe will go directly to the cost of my travel, materials for the students, and cost of living. See breakdown below:
Roundtrip Transportation $2200
Visa 3-6 months $450/monthly
Lodging $600/month
Food $200/month
Local Transportation $120/month
Total 3 months $5500
During this time I'm overseas, I will be keeping a blog/newsletter on my website, and would love for each and every one of you to read it and keep caught up on what's happening in Iraq. If you would like for me to send you a newsletter via e-mail, please reach out to me and let me know.
Please prayerfully consider donating financially to this cause and to the relief of the refugee crisis. Even more so, I covet your prayers! I am so thankful for each and every one of you.
With much love,
Frank
