Like George and Mary Bailey in the film, "It's a Wonderful Life," my parents have given so much of themselves over the years (whether they had little or much), to help others without judgement or asking repayment. And now they are in need of prayer and help.
When the business my parents had for 15 years needed to be shut down, it left them over $850,000 in debt, and they have been struggling to work on that ever since.
Dad's 5 years in Sempra's IT department helped a lot, but when they started reducing staff and retired him at the age of 65, that hurt a lot, as Dad was planning on working another 5 years, which would have gotten them back to a manageable situation.
As a grateful kidney transplant recipient, Mom's health has declined somewhat over the past 5 + years, but she is amazingly holding her own; however, there have been increasing challenges.
For example, they leased a 2nd car (which has 9 months to go on the lease) 2+ years ago with the idea that Dad would get a job soon, and Mom would have a car in case of an emergency.
3 months later, Mom had a stroke which left her weakened on her right side, and with double pneumonia shortly after that, it became clear that Dad's presence was needed 24/7 to help her, so the job is not possible, and the 2nd car not needed.
Both of my parents are very hesitant takers, as they have been givers their entire lives, and I know from personal experience that it takes a lot of courage and humility to ask for help.
My parents would not want people to feel sorry for them in their current situation, but I believe that they would be so encouraged by grace, knowing that when presented with the need, the Lord spoke to hearts to help them.
They are hoping to be able to stay in their home in Menifee, as the prospect of moving again with their age and health factors is daunting.
They still believe with all their hearts that God will provide for them, and yet the stress of what feels like an impossible circumstance is taking its toll, especially on my mom.
Recently I've been crying out in prayer with a tender-hearted friend whose parents are in a similar situation, and we shared that we just felt so helpless seeing our parents suffer. And then it came to me that sometimes prayer is the action, and sometimes it's the call to action.
So for anyone reading this, please pray for my parents, and if the Lord leads you to do other than pray, this page is setup for that purpose.
