Help for Vivi

Hello! My name is Lori and I am fundraising for a great person, Vivi Devereaux ... Here is his story ....

January 16th 2023, our friend Vivi was violently assaulted by a stranger in an unprovoked attack. He was brutally stabbed 15 times by the assailant. Vivi sustained multiple life threatening injuries, including wounds to his abdomen and many major arteries. The severity of these injuries is gruesome and extensive. Emergency responders rushed him to the hospital, at which point Vivi was assessed as having a very slim chance at survival.

In fact, during surgery, Vivi died on the operating table. Against all odds, the medical team was able to resuscitate him. He required multiple blood transfusions, multiple surgeries, and 11 days in the hospital. He is with us today and on the slow and arduous road to recovery.

Friends, Vivi needs our help.

Besides the daunting hospital bills that have already begun piling up, Vivi has months, if not years, of physical and occupational therapy ahead of him to help him regain the use of his left arm and hand which was severed almost completely. He will need many months to recover from the most serious of his injuries, and may require more surgical treatment in the future.

While there are state and federal services in place to assist, we all know that the wheels of government turn slowly. Vivi needs our help now. We can make his healing journey much easier if we can alleviate some of the monetary stressors from his life while he navigates his next steps.

For anyone reading this who may not personally know Vivi, he is thoughtful, gentle, kind, and aware. He was escorting his friend to her car as a gentleman. This simple act exemplifies his heart, and the kind of person he is. They were in a nice part of LA, and she was parked a short distance away.

They were followed by a man as they left a restaurant, who quickly became hostile when asked to back away from them. Vivi tried calmly to de-escalate. Instead, the man pulled a knife, and attacked him. Vivi was ensuring the safety of a friend, ultimately at the risk of his own life.

While we cannot elaborate on the details of the active criminal case, we can tell you that the stranger who attacked Vivi is in custody and has been charged with attempted murder. The case is currently pending. We want to emphasize that Vivi did not know his attacker, and the motive behind the attack is still unknown.
