Millie

Our daughter Shelby was diagnosed with preeclampsia at 36 weeks of pregnancy. She was admitted into the hospital on February 26 to regulate her blood pressure. Dr’s chose to induce her on the 27th because the preeclampsia could not be controlled. Millie Ann was born on the evening of the 28th. Nurses knew something wasn’t right! With a phone call & a code announced over the P.A. Millie was taken to the N.I.C.U. We were told Millie had “immature” lungs. We watched as the Dr’s & nurses did everything to help this little girl. On Friday the decision was made to transfer Millie to Texas Children’s Hospital, we were informed Millie was in critical condition. Texas Children’s Hospital diagnosed her with Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn (PPHN). Millie has been sedated & on a respirator. After 5 days Millie has come a long way! She remains at T.C.H. When asked for a timeline as to when she’ll be going home? The answer has been “it’s up to her”... Mom Shelby just started following her dream as an Aesthetician at day spa. Dad Christopher hasn’t been at his job for a year at Amazon. With their first child in the hospital they did what we all would’ve done... Both of them are staying at the hospital to support & be by Millie’s side! Neither one have compensated time off. FMLA is not an option because of time on the job. As if being so concerned about their daughters health isn’t enough, add the pressure of not knowing how they will pay just the monthly bills...
