Fort Drum family in need

Donation protected

On 4am Saturday, 25 February 2017 the Sample Family’s entire home was destroyed and as well as all of their belongings, in a devastating structure fire. Kyle Sample, a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, is currently stationed at Fort Drum. First and foremost Kyle saved the lives of his entire family that morning.  Putting his training, as a volunteer firefighter, to use he ensured his family survived this emotional ordeal. He quickly guided his wife, Elizabeth, and mother-in-law, Carroll, to safety. He then secured the safety of his two children, Kadance (5), & Izzy (3).  He heroically shielded them with his own body; sustaining 2nd and 3rd degree burns across his back and limbs. Fire Fighters arriving on the scene were alarmed to see him holding his son while hanging out a second story window.

Please help this family in need and donate as much as you can afford. The family is currently receiving treatment at Upstate Medical University for smoke inhalation and other injuries. They also ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
This page will be updated periodically with the latest information on their recovery.
