Forest City Velodrome recover from copper THEFT

In the early hours of Saturday January 21st, a highly trained thief approached the back of our building, and carefully cut the copper wiring from the hydro pole to our building.

It was discovered by FCV Volunteers when they arrived to open the velodrome for our morning session and there was no electricity to FCV.

In working with the London Police Service, we have discovered that this crime is not isolated and has been happening frequently. The skill and planning it would take to pull off such an act has the LPS on alert.

FCV Board of Directors and Volunteers are working closely with the buildings Owner to facilitate the repairs quickly and in a fashion that prevents this from happening again.

As a not-for-profit ran by volunteers, it is disheartening to be knocked down financially and as a family group.

We have volunteers giving more of their time to ensure the buildings security and repairs.

We have youth training for races that cannot use the track.

We have adult membership missing their rec sessions.

We are all being affected by this selfish act.

Sessions will have to remain CANCELLED for TODAY, Monday January 23rd, TOMORROW Tuesday January 24th, and WEDNESDAY January 25th AM session ONLY.

We are hoping to be back up and running Wednesday January 25th in the AFTERNOON.

We will keep membership updated on closure, information and reopening as quickly as possible.

The repairs are coming at a large cost. As a not for profit we are looking for ways to cover this expense. In contacting London Hydro, we discovered this repair was solely our responsibility.

Our not for profit simply cannot bear this expense alone.

Every dollar raised will go towards the repair and operations of Forest City Velodrome.
