THE GREAT AAPI ELDER PRINT OFF!

Donation protected

DEAR FRIENDS:

As AAPI artists, we are compelled to respond to the recent violent attacks against our elders. We’ve developed a project for other AAPI artists to creatively connect with socially isolated AAPI elders. We believe that art-making can ease the hardships that many AAPI elders are facing.

+ Stop AAPI Hate has reported nearly 3,800 incidents of violent attacks against AAPI folk in the past year.

+ When reports of attacks against AAPI elders started to circulate, we (Erika Chong Shuch and Ryan Tacata of For You ) immediately thought of our Asian immigrant parents and grandparents. We’re partnering with Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly  (LBFE), a community befriending organization for elders.

HELP US LAUNCH THIS PROJECT:

THE GREAT AAPI ELDER PRINT OFF
May 1st - June 27th 2021

+ ONE AAPI artist is connected with ONE AAPI elder to make a poster that amplifies that elder’s voice.
+ Those posters are made available online.
+ At the end of June, major arts organizations and local communities come together for The Great Print Off (printing off the posters and displaying them in windows).
+ Your donation will go directly to the participating artist. Each artist receives $300 for participating.

THANK YOU AND JOIN US!

For You (Erika Chong Shuch and Ryan Tacata, with Rowena Richie) is a performance collective that brings diverse strangers together and makes performances as gifts. As a response to worldwide shelter-in-place ordinances due to COVID-19, they launched Artists & Elders  in April 2020—a project that virtually pairs artists and elders together for creative exchange. More info here .
