For the Love of Sabin

Perhaps you’ve had a reading with Sabin that changed the direction of your life. Perhaps you’ve had a life-changing visit to Chimayo with her. Maybe for years you’ve been reading her posts and shares on Facebook touched by the depth of her wisdom and her daily care. Maybe you’ve experienced her spiritual insight and laughter and guidance up close. So many of us have come to feel Sabin as a presence in our lives as a mother, a fairy godmother, a beloved friend, a soul sister, one of those rare people who once you’ve met nothing will ever be the same again.
Sabin herself asks for very little and lives, truly, with the trust and faith of one of the lilies of the field. She doesn’t own a home or have any savings or investments, other than her absolute devotion to Our Lady.
But right now we are asking for your help with practical support and prayers. She needs us to offer to her the mothering and care she has given to so many.
This winter Sabin was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 uterine cancer. She has had surgery and will now need five months of chemotherapy. During that time, it will be very hard for her to do Tarot readings for her clients so she will have no income for her and her grandson Luke, other than a very modest social security payment. In addition, she will have out-of-pocket expenses for medicines and procedures thanks to our medical system.
We want Sabin to heal and rest during this time. We want her to be free of worry and to focus on doing the deep work for herself she has done for the rest of us. For her monthly living and medical expenses, we estimate that she will need $4,000 a month. This will cover rent, food, phone, electricity, travel to and from the hospital, drugs, and co-payments.
We are hoping to raise $20,000 as quickly as possible so Sabin does not have to worry during this time. Please give what you can. It is also possible to donate monthly if that is easier for you. That, too, will make a big difference.
Sabin has touched the lives of many and if we each give a little we can give back to her a lot.
