for the love of Bacon

Donation protected
On February 15th 2017 we had to say good bye to a dear friend of the FREEstate Workshop, he was the official guard dog, crotch sniffer, lady loving Pitbull/retriever mix named Kevin Bacon aka Bacon Boy aka Bacon Bit aka Dammit Bacon.  He was my buddy but he was Aaron Hooper's (bass player in the Pasadena Band and all around awesome pessimistic individual we all love) best friend.

Aaron doesn't know I am doing this, he is too proud to ask for help and feels like Bacon is, and always has been, his sole responsibility. He racked up over $3800 in medical bills with medicine/fluids, specialist visits, overnight boarding, tests that proved nothing and blood work to save the life of a very good boy.  A good friend and kind soul.  He was trying to save the life of a best friend.

This isn't well written, it all seems so surreal.  I guess what I am saying is, he could use some help on this.  The bill will get paid one way or another regardless.  He has already paid $1000 out of pocket, some friends and family have donated $1000 right when they heard of the passing of Bacon and the attempt to save his life.

You don't need to like me, you don't even need to like Aaron but if you liked Bacon.  Do it for him.

Hooper hasn't drank at all this year, I mean at all.  So I figure if anyone out there would want to buy him a shot, an average shot of Jameson is $8, if you want to buy one for Bacon that is another $8, if you want to buy one for me that is another $8.  You get my point.  Put that money towards this fund instead,,, it was a much more noble cause and Bacon was well worth it.

Cheers to you... rest easy to my friend.

Kevin Bacon 2-15-17

Here is how the story goes... Hoop never wanted a dog, actually criticized people for their need to purchase an animal to show them love, he laughed at us and then became one of us.  He met Kevin Bacon.  The next day Bacon went on tour with Pasadena across the country and spent the greater part of his first year of life on the road with the band.  Aaron took great pride in his dog.  He trained him, loved him and formed a bond that only a dog owner will ever know.

The night of the Super bowl, February 5th 2017, we had folks over at the FREEstate Workshop for a jolly ole time and Bacon seemed to be a little, I guess, less excitable are the words I would use.  The next day, Monday, I noticed he wouldn't eat his dinner.  Tuesday the same, wouldn't even eat chicken and rice.  He was extremely dehydrated, nauseous with zero appetite.  That day Aaron took him to the Light Street Animal hospital in the hopes of figuring out the issue.  They gave him a few things to try, ran some tests and sent him and Bacon home to await the results.  Bacon wouldn't eat, anything.  He was very lethargic but still in good spirits.  When his situation did not improve and the previous tests proved nothing, Aaron did a return trip to the Light Street vet, they kept him for the day and did more tests.  At the end of the day at their advice Aaron took Bacon to the Catonsville Emergency Animal Hospital.  This was Saturday.  The situation was looking bleak but hope remained.  He saw 3 different specialist who could not figure out his issue.  At first he was producing too many red blood cells, being feed by a syringe and fluids through IV.  His body started correcting the blood cells and evening out the red & white count.  But Bacon would never spend another night at home.  He stayed at the Emergency Hospital 4 days, on Tuesday night, February 14th we thought we would be picking him up the next day to bring him home and just feed him via syringe and take him to see a specialist in Annapolis.  That was not the case.  Hooper went to pick him up at the Emergency Hospital Wednesday morning, they advised him to go straight to a specialist Vet in Bowie.  He stopped by the Workshop before he went down so Bacon and Felony could say hi to each other, this would be the last time they were in the yard together sitting on their loveseat.  When Bacon arrived at the Specialist his kidneys had started to fail, he would be mercifully put to sleep a few short hours later.  Even as I write this it seems surreal.  Again if you haven't dealt with this I don't expect you to understand.  Bacon was 5 years old.  It just wasn't fair.  I kind of felt bad, I wanted to be the strong one for Aaron and I couldn't stop the tears from falling.  At least I got to say goodbye.
