“Coffee is Culture”!! A Way of Life!!

Coffee is culture

Hello everyone, my name is Gina Kamiatu, and I'm the founder of Trinity House Coffee. I'm thrilled to share with you today the story of how the coffee growers in my village gave me the opportunity to pursue my dreams, and how Trinity House Coffee is giving back to the community where it all began.

Growing up in a small village in the mountains of Kenya, I always knew that I wanted to do more with my life than just work in the fields like my parents and grandparents before me. I dreamt of going to school, but my family couldn't afford it. That's when the coffee growers in my village stepped in. They pooled their funds and paid for my education, believing in my potential and supporting me every step of the way. Thanks to their generosity, I was able to attend university and earn a degree in business.

After graduation, I knew that I wanted to give back to my community and help others achieve their dreams, like the elders (the growers) had helped me. That's why I decided to form Trinity House Coffee, a social enterprise that sources its beans directly from small-scale farmers near the village I grew up in, just outside of Nairobi, Kenya, in the Meru District.

Our mission is to empower and inspire the coffee growers and their families by providing fair compensation and reinvesting a portion of our proceeds back into their communities. We believe in leveling the playing field by going directly to the farmers, paying them nearly four times what they typically get from auctions back home. Our people do all of the "back-breaking" laboring, yet they are the least paid throughout the supply chain. We want to change that. But we can't do it alone. We need your help to take our mission to the next level.

That's why we're launching a Gofundme campaign to raise funds for our next project: building a community center in the heart of the village where I grew up. Imagine the pride of the elders when they see that the little Kenyan girl they supported many years ago has come full circle and returned to give back and create the same opportunities for the children there today.

Our community center will serve as a hub for education and entrepreneurship, providing resources and support for people of all ages. We'll offer classes on everything, from financial literacy to computer skills, and provide access to tools and equipment for starting small businesses and improving crop production.

With your support, we can make this dream a reality. Your donations will go directly toward the construction and furnishing of the new community center, as well as the resources needed to run classes and workshops once the center is completed. But that's not all. Your donations will also help us continue to source our beans directly from small-scale farmers and pay them fair wages for their hard work.

In addition, we will use a portion of the funds to invest in healthcare initiatives for the communities we partner with. I know firsthand the power of giving back, as someone who was able to pursue her dreams thanks to the generosity of others. And together, we can create a better future for the coffee growers and their families back home in my native Kenya. Let's make a difference in their lives and give them the opportunity to thrive. Thank you for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a difference.
