FOR DEBBY WE FIGHT

Sometimes even the rocks and foundations in our family need support. We recieved bad news 12 weeks ago that the doctors found another spot on our Mom's lungs. This spot turned out to be her second diagnosis of lung cancer.
If anyone knows Debby, they know she is a fighter! She fought her way throguh weeks of radiation treatment at Loyola Universtiy Hospital. We thought things were looking up, but we had no idea her real fight had not yet started.
5 days before Thanksgiving Debby's oxygen dropped and my Dad (Ron Wagner) had to get her rushed to the hospital. Our mom was having a very hard time breathing and she was admitted right away.
Things quickly got worse from there. She was placed in ICU where doctors worked around the clock to try to figure out how to help her. On Sunday November 26th we were informed that it was time to say goodbye to our mom, wife, and best friend. This was a very hard day, but we were all there for her.
Debby was placed on a ventilator, becuase she could no longer fully breathe on her own. Carbon dioxide was filling her blood stream and her body began to poisin itself. While on the ventilator, Doctors discoverd a rare bacteria on the surface of her lungs. They began treating the bacteria immediately.
She was on a vent for 4 days. As a result, when she awoke she could no longer use her arms and legs. My mom would need extensive therapy. She has been fighting ever since and remains in a rehab center as of today.
After 8 weeks we are hoping she will return home soon, but will need home health care. The past 2 months and second fight with lung cancer have taken a toll on her, the family, and the finances.
